The four-star Morgan Hotel located in Dublin’s Temple Bar has re-opened following a €15 million investment and redesign.
The Fleet Street hotel had been closed for a complete refurbishment since early this year. Since first opening in 2001, The Morgan has grown massively in popularity during the Celtic Tiger era.
With inspiration taken from the Art Deco period, a stylish urban retreat has been created in the heart of Dublin City centre. The refurbishment adds a further 39 bedrooms, making a total of 168 bedrooms along with a brand new fifth floor along with its full interior redesign.
Versatile Bathrooms + Tiles worked with the designers throughout the planning stages to achieve the desired vision incorporating suitably high spec, exclusive wall tiles and floor tiles throughout the hotel.
The ground floor area of the hotel and lobby would inevitably receive the highest amount of traffic, therefore a highly durable flooring solution was required. The result was Centuries Pisa and Cassetone collections from Italian tile manufacturer Ceramiche Campogalliano, with the clean crisp tiles creating a fresh feel in the space along with adding to the Art Deco feel which is evident throughout the design.
For the restaurant, the Centuries Hexagons marble tiles from the same Italian brand were selected, together with Mansion parquet wood effect tiles from Refin, which served to create a distinct contrast in this space yet beautifully complementing each other.
Once again, Versatile worked with supplier Ceramiche Campogalliano to provide the Panarea floor tile around the base of the beautiful bar area, while vintage style Fap Brooklyn tiles were used around the bar to complement them.
For the lobby, as a feature area around the lift, the stunning Lins by Yonoh collection from Harmony Inspire was selected to create a bespoke textured feel to this lively part of the building. The use of crisscrossing lines generates visual effects, ideal for transforming wall surfaces into large murals.
The Aquarius Grigio tile collection from Verde1999 was used for the entrance lobby to every room and ensuite in every room as being a neutral tile it provides adaptability to various colour schemes and styles. For the stunning penthouse suite, wall & floor tiles from the Livingstone Grigio collection from the same Italian manufacturer were selected, together with a feature wall of Maxfine Onice Grigio & Iris Be in Rose tile. Plank effect tiles were selected for the balcony area to complete the vision.
